Sudden Storm KitPrice: $40.00
The Sudden Storm kit is QRPme's implementation of G3RJV Rev. George Dobbs Sudden Receiver as written up in October 2006 Practical Wireless magazine. It makes the perfect companion receiver to the Two Tinned Tunas or Tuna Tin 2 kit. An easy and straight forward kit to build with NO surface mount parts. All the parts come sealed inside a factory fresh tuna can with an easy open pull top lid and custom label. Complete assembly documentation can be found below. This kit is an excellent kit for beginners or experts alike and also makes a perfect gift. Can be assembled in one evening by a beginner. A great conversation piece for every QRPer's bench!
The Sudden Storm kit comes with 40m band components but can be operated on 80m, 30m and 20m using the Sudden Storm Upgrade kit.
The current version of the kit is Ver.6. Read the SS VER 4-5-6 Readme FIRST.pdf file to note the differences in the most recent versions of the kit. The Ver.4, 5 & 6 are all built using the same guide. Note that the ver.6 pcb is back to BLUE and does not need any mods or patches to the circuit board traces. They have all been corrected on the ver.6 printed circuit board. Use the SS6 Builders Guide (ver4-2) file below to build the kit.
The Rexwood 1000W kit is the exactly the same as the Sudden Storm kit except for the 'radio in the round' label and the extra 7047.5 W1AW crystal in the Rexwood 1000W kit.
